AMERICUS, Ga.– Georgia Southwestern's Jordan Jones has been named the Peach Belt Conference Golfer of the Week after a standout showing at the Bobcat Invitational.
Jones, a sophomore from Auckland, New Zealand earned the honor after delivering an efficient and dominant performance that resulted in a seven-shot victory over a strong, nationally ranked field. The win marked his first collegiate victory and his play also helped guide the Hurricanes to their second team win of the spring season.
From the opening round, Jones positioned himself near the top of the leaderboard with a 2-under 68, but it was his second-round performance that defined the tournament and allowed no other competitor to keep pace. He followed with the lowest score of the tournament, a 6-under 64 matching the second-lowest round in program history.
Jones' success was built on balance across all areas of the course. He was especially sharp on the par 3s, leading the field with a 2.50 scoring average, while also finishing among the top performers on both par 4s and par 5s. He also created scoring opportunities throughout the event, finishing with 11 birdies which was more than any other player in the field.
Equally important to his victory was Jones' ability to avoid costly errors. Over two rounds, he recorded just three bogeys, the lowest total among all competitors.
The PBC Golfer of the Week honor reflects not only Jones' individual performance, but also Georgia Southwestern's continued success. Jones joins Sam Brown to give the Hurricanes two Peach Belt Conference Golfer of the Week awards this season, highlighting the team's depth and strong spring campaign.
Following the win, Jones jumped 39 spots to move up to No. 9 in the national rankings.
