William Rambo Memorial Golf Scholarship
Judge William Walter Rambo, affectionately known as “Rambo,” passed away on February 14, 2026. A group of his close friends established this scholarship in his memory. Rambo was a State Court Judge of Sumter County who excelled at golf and was a member of the golf team at the University of Georgia as an undergraduate. He later graduated from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. Georgia Southwestern State University’s Griffin Bell Golf Course was his home course where he and his golf group often interacted with members of the Georgia Southwestern Golf Team. The William Rambo Memorial Golf Scholarship Endowment is a permanent fund created to provide scholarships to student-athletes who are members at GSW Golf Team now and for generations to come.
