AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's golf team's remarkable season continued Tuesday with three Hurricanes earning NCAA Division II PING All-Southeast Region honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Junior
Sam Brown, freshman
Sacha Corlouer and sophomore
Jordan Jones each earned all-region recognition following a season that saw the Hurricanes capture tournament titles, individual medalists and a return to the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships.
Jones headlined the trio after being named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year earlier this spring. The sophomore claimed medalist honors at the Bobcat Invitational in dominant fashion, winning the tournament by seven strokes while helping lead GSW throughout the year with consistent top finishes against nationally ranked competition. Jones also earned All-PBC honors for his efforts.
Brown continued his strong junior campaign by capturing the individual title at the Peach Belt Conference Championship, becoming the Hurricanes' latest conference medalist. Brown's postseason play helped Georgia Southwestern secure another NCAA regional appearance, and he was also selected to the All-PBC Team.
Both Jones and Brown entered this week's NCAA Championships tied for the team lead with a scoring average of 72.31 and both had eight top 25 finishes with four top 10 finishes during the season.
Corlouer made an immediate impact when he joined the Hurricanes this spring to play his freshman season, highlighted by an individual victory at the Argonaut Invitational. The rookie consistently contributed to the Hurricanes' lineup throughout the spring as he played in seven events - finishing in the top 25 on five occasions - and joined Brown and Jones as an All-PBC selection.
The three all-region selections continue a strong stretch for GSW men's golf under head coach
Darcy Donaldson, whose program advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championships for the fourth time in the last six seasons.
The NCAA Division II PING All-Region teams featured players from eight regions and 59 schools across the country.
