Game 1 | GSW 19, Middle Georgia 5 (7 inn.)
Georgia Southwestern wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for eight runs in the opening inning Friday afternoon and never looking back.
The Hurricanes capitalized on free passes and timely hitting to build a massive early cushion, sending 13 batters to the plate in the first. RBI contributions came from across the lineup as GSW took advantage of hit-by-pitches, walks, and clutch extra-base hits.
Wainman powered the offense with a 4-for-6 day that included a pair of doubles and five RBIs, while Murphy added four RBIs of his own. Gipson drove in three and scored three times, and Johnson chipped in two RBIs and three runs scored.
Harman reached base three times and scored four runs, continuing what has become a remarkably consistent stretch at the top of the lineup.
On the mound,
Evan Koehler (7-3) struck out nine across five innings to earn the win, with
Rem Maxwell closing out the final two frames.
Game 2 | GSW 6, Middle Georgia 5
Saturday required a different script—and a steadier hand.
After falling behind early, the Hurricanes chipped away and eventually pulled even before finding the go-ahead run in the ninth.
Carson Shaw delivered one of the game's biggest swings with a solo home run in the sixth to tie things up, while Murphy and Wainman each drove in key runs to keep GSW within striking distance.
In the ninth, Shaw came through again with an RBI single that plated the eventual game-winning run.
Caleb Gipson sparked the offense from the bottom of the order, finishing 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Johnny Nutt (6-2) delivered a workhorse performance on the mound, tossing 145 pitchers over eight innings, and
Cooper Sain shut the door in the ninth to secure his third save of the season.
Game 3 | GSW 10, Middle Georgia 9
The finale brought the drama on Sunday — and the defining moment of the weekend.
After falling behind 9-0 through three innings, the Hurricanes mounted a relentless comeback, highlighted by a seven-run fifth inning that erased the deficit.
Wainman, Johnson, and Shaw all delivered run-producing hits during the rally, while Harman capped the surge with a two-run single to tie the game.
GSW scratched across the go-ahead run in the eighth, taking advantage of aggressive baserunning and a defensive miscue to move in front for good.
On the mound,
Jensen Seculer stabilized things with five innings of relief before Maxwell closed out the final 2 2/3 innings to earn the win.
Despite the early deficit, the Hurricanes never let the game spiral, instead steadily applying pressure until the breakthrough came.
