AMERICUS, Ga. — Georgia Southwestern delivered one of the most explosive offensive days in program history Saturday, erupting for a record-tying performance in the doubleheader opener before completing a Peach Belt Conference series sweep of Claflin University with a 15-5 victory in the nightcap at Hurricane Stadium.
The Hurricanes (18-13, 11-4 PBC) plated 60 runs across the three-game weekend series, punctuated by a historic 35-run outburst in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

Game 1: Georgia Southwestern 35, Claflin 5 (7 innings)
After falling behind early, GSW responded with an offensive avalanche that matched the program's NCAA-era record with 35 runs.
Claflin struck first with two runs in the opening inning and added another in the third, but the Hurricanes answered quickly. A two-run second inning evened the score before a nine-run third flipped the momentum for good.
From there, it turned into a relentless surge.
The Hurricanes added five runs in the fourth, exploded for 11 in the fifth, and tacked on eight more in the sixth, finishing with 23 hits in the run-rule victory.
Murphy powered the effort with a three-hit, five-run performance, while Gipson delivered a perfect 5-for-5 game with six RBIs and five runs scored. Reaves added five hits and four runs, and multiple Hurricanes turned in multi-RBI performances as the lineup produced from top to bottom.
Despite allowing five runs, Derek Espinoza (3-2) earned the win, while the bullpen combined for three scoreless innings to close it out.
Game 2: Georgia Southwestern 15, Claflin 5 (7 innings)
The Hurricanes carried that momentum into the finale, using a late offensive burst to secure the sweep.
GSW built a narrow 6-5 lead through five innings and Trey Clinton was called on to get out of a bases loaded jam in the sixth before the Hurricanes broke the game open in the bottom half of the inning. The Hurricanes erupted for nine runs in the frame, stringing together hits and capitalizing on opportunities to pull away for good.
Harman led the charge with three RBIs in the game, while Johnson and Murphy each drove in multiple runs during the decisive inning. Wainman added two RBIs, continuing his steady production in the middle of the order.
On the mound, Johnny Nutt improved to 5-1 with 5 2/3 innings of work, and Clinton closed the door with 1 1/3 scoreless innings to secure the win.
