DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University softball team faced off against USC Aiken in the second round of the Peach Belt Conference tournament.

Game 1 L, 3-2

The game was a stalemated pitchers duel until the top of the fourth when Aiken scored on a fielders choice RBI bunt.

Aiken scored in the top of the fifth on an RBI single that gave the Pacers the 2-0 lead.

GSW struck back in the bottom of the inning scoring two runs first b being a solo home run by Morgan Mullin, and an RBI single from Isabel Marcotte that tied the game 2-2.

Aiken scored the game's final run on an RBI double in the top of the sixth inning the Pacers held on to defeat the Canes 3-2.

Game 2 L, 9-6

GSW faced off against the host team and second-seeded North Georgia in the elimination game of the PBC Tournament.

The Hurricanes jumped to an early 4-0 lead on a hit, three walks, and a batter who was hit by the pitch.

UNG struck back in the bottom of the first as they scored two runs to cut the Canes 4-0 lead by half.

A Zoe Willis fielder's choice in the top of the second added a run to the board for GSW that extended their lead to three runs. 

Much like the first inning the Hawks answered back in the bottom of the inning scoring another two runs while cutting the Canes lead to just one run.

In the third inning, the Canes added their final run of the game when Isabel Marcotte scored on a wild pitch that put the Canes up 6-4 this would be the final lead of the game for GSW.

Like a broken record, the Hawks added another two runs in the bottom of the inning tied the game at six.

North Georgia finally took the lead in the fifth inning scoring three runs that gave them the 9-6 lead this would be the last score in the game as the Hawks would go on to win 9-6 ending the 2023 season for GSW.

Hannah Holloway started the game and pitched four innings giving up 10 hits and allowing eight earned runs GSW had a great season that ended too quickly they will look to rebound next season.
