AMERICUS, GA. -- Georgia Southwestern (18-22) defeated Embry-Riddle (20-20) in their midweek contest on Tuesday night. The game was back and forth with both teams having big innings throughout. Four lead changes during the game with the final one coming in the bottom of the eleventh when Reid Ragsdale earned a walk with the bases loaded to walk in the game winning run.

Both offenses came alive early with Embry-Riddle scoring three in the top of the first and holding the Hurricanes to none in the bottom half. Embry-Riddle added one in the second and the GSW offense answered with a three-run inning of their own to set the pace for the rest of the game. In the top of the third the Embry-Riddle offense continued to drive in runs putting up three in the half inning to take a commanding 7-3 lead. Neither team would score in the next inning but the GSW offense had one more big inning left in them scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth with a Hunter Foster triple, a Tyler Skelton double, and an Anthony Angelino single driving in four of those runs to give GSW their first lead of the game at 8-7.

A scoreless inning in the sixth would set the stage for Embry-Riddle to retake the lead with a two-run top of the second. In the bottom of the eighth, Matthew Mamatas singled to right field driving in the tying run. The pitching for both teams would finally settle in with neither team able to breakthrough from the ninth till the 11th inning. The Hurricanes deployed a trio of pitchers to get through the final innings, the trio consisted of Dalton Cameron, Mike Monduy and Kyle Bachle (W, 1-1) allowing zero runs and zero hits in the final 4 1/3 innings. The Hurricanes would threaten many times in extra innings but couldn't push across the final run until the Reid Ragsdale walk that gave the Hurricanes their second midweek win of the season.

The Hurricanes will play back to back games, heading to Auburn University in Montgomery before hosting Augusta University for a three-game Peach Belt Conference series
