'Canes drop two on Florida swing

The Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team dropped a pair of matches over the weekend on the Florida swing of their 2010 schedule, losing on Friday evening at No. 22 Saint Leo, 5-0, before falling on Sunday in Melbourne to Florida Tech, 3-1.

On Friday, Saint Leo scored four times in the first half and added late goal in the second half to cruise to the win.

The host Lions held a 12-0 shots on goal advantage. All five goals were scored by different players.

Southwestern goalkeeper Cade Jones made seven saves.

On Sunday, Gary Ogilvie converted a penalty kick for Tech at the 18:24 mark to put the home team on the board and open the scoring.

The match remained at 1-0 until the 56th minute when - only five seconds after GSW was issued a red card - Florida Tech opened the lead to two goals on a Ryan Moon header.

With a man advantage, Tech scored their final goal just under four minutes later when Nick Robinson scored off a breakaway.

The GSW score came on an own goal in the 74th minute.

David Porley made five stops between the pipes for the Hurricanes.

Florida Tech held an 8-2 shots on goal advantage and led 10-3 in corner kicks.
