SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Sam Brown and Sacha Corlouër both finished inside the top 10 as the Georgia Southwestern State University men's golf team opened its 2026-27 season with a tie for fifth at The Dewsweeper Invitational on Tuesday at TPC San Antonio's Canyons Course.

The Hurricanes closed the 54-hole tournament with a 3-under-par 285 in the final round to finish at 4-over 868 (288-295-285), tying Oklahoma Christian University and Dallas Baptist University in the 12-team field. CSU San Bernardino captured the team title at 4-under, three strokes ahead of runner-up Arkansas Tech University.

Brown and Corlouër led GSW by tying for eighth individually at 2-under 214.

Brown opened the tournament with a 4-under 68 before shooting 77 in the second round. The junior bounced back Tuesday with a 3-under 69, recording five birdies, including four on his final 10 holes.

Corlouër was GSW's most consistent golfer over the three rounds, posting scores of 72, 72 and 70. The sophomore carded five birdies during his 2-under final round, including three over a six-hole stretch.

Jordan Jones finished tied for 30th at 6-over 222 (72-73-77), while Elias Järn tied for 38th at 8-over 224 (77-75-72). Järn finished the tournament in dramatic fashion, making an eagle on his final hole of the day during Tuesday's shotgun start to complete an even-par 72.

Newcomer Juan Velásquez rounded out the GSW lineup in his Hurricane debut, tying for 40th at 9-over 225 (76-75-74). Velásquez posted an eagle in Round 1 on his fifth hole of the tournament.

GSW was among the tournament's best teams on both the par 3s and par 5s. The Hurricanes tied for the field lead in par-3 scoring with a 3.12 average and finished third on the par 5s, playing those holes at 17-under with a 4.72 average. GSW recorded two eagles over the three rounds.

The Canyons Course played as a par 72 at 6,943 yards, with the 60-player field averaging 73.94 strokes per round.
