AMERICUS, Ga. – The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer program added another historic milestone to its standout 2025 campaign as
Cesar Rubio-Amaya and
Axel-Ambroise Gravel were named to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region Second Team, marking the first All-Region selections in program history.
GSW was one of just six schools in the Southeast Region to place multiple players on the D2CCA list, underscoring the Hurricanes' rise within one of the most competitive regions in Division II soccer.
Rubio-Amaya, a senior forward from Woodbridge, Va., delivered one of the most prolific offensive seasons ever by a Hurricane, finishing with 10 goals and 23 points while leading the Peach Belt Conference in scoring. Gravel, a junior midfielder from Dijon, France, added six goals and 14 points in conference play, anchoring GSW's midfield and earning his second major postseason honor this year.
"This is a significant moment for our program," head coach
Joe Barber said. "Cesar and Axel earned these awards through consistency, hard work, and the ability to rise in big moments. To have not just one, but two Hurricanes recognized at the regional level for the first time is a tremendous accomplishment."
The D2CCA All-Region teams are selected by sports information directors across the Southeast and recognize the top performers from the Peach Belt Conference, Conference Carolinas, and the South Atlantic Conference.
