DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team rallied from a one goal deficit while playing a man down on Sunday morning to earn a 2-2 draw at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The Hurricanes were issued a red card in the 42nd minute, trailing 1-0.
GSW was behind at the break despite holding the Eagles to three shots over the opening 45 minutes and racking up 10 shots of their own prior to the red card. Jose Monteagudo tied the match at 1-1 in the 53rd minute off an assist from Axel-Ambroise Gravel. GSW captured the lead in the 81st minute when Gravel found the back of the net off an assist from Andres Melendez. With less than three minutes remaining, ERAU managed to salvage the draw.
Goalkeeper Noah Kasin made one save for GSW and Gravel led the offensive attack with four shots. GSW finished with a 15-11 shots advantage and an 8-6 edge in corner kicks.
The Hurricanes return home to host Shorter University (1-0) on Wednesday in a non-conference match at 6 p.m.
