AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team remained perfect at home this season (3-0) and improved its record to 3-1-2 overall with a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander University on Saturday evening at Hurricane Field. The win against the Bearcats was just the second all-time for the Hurricanes against the perennial PBC power (26 matches) and the first at home.
The result on Saturday was never in doubt once Alexander Lozano opened the scoring in the 13th minute. The Hurricanes carried a 2-0 advantage into the halftime break following a score by Daniel Romero-Ramos in the 28th minute. Kimoni Mills punched in GSW's final goal of the night in the 74th minute. Lander found the back of the net with 1:16 seconds remaining.
Jack Malleret, Kynu Samuels, Dante Johnson and Andres Melendez picked up assists for GSW. Juan Ramirez was outstanding between the pipes for GSW with nine saves.
The Hurricanes travel to Peach Belt Conference leader Flagler College (5-0-1, 2-0 PBC) on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. match against the Saints.
