HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team remained undefeated through four matches this season after earning a 1-1 draw at the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Sunday afternoon. It was the first positive result for the Hurricanes against UAH in six meetings (0-5-1).
Jose Monteagudo scored his second goal of the season to give the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute. UAH managed to salvage the draw with their equalizer in the 58th minute.
Goalkeeper Noah Kasin made one save for GSW and Andres Melendez led the offensive attack with three shots. GSW outshot UAH in the second half 5-4, but trailed 14-9 overall. Both teams managed only two shots on goal. Corner kicks were near even as UAH held a slim 6-5 advantage.
The Hurricanes open Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the University of North Georgia (1-2-1, 0-0 PBC).
