GSW unable to hold lead, loses 2-1 to UNCP

Georgia Southwestern scored in the fifth minute against UNC Pembroke, but could not add another goal and the visiting Braves stormed back for a 2-1 win Saturday afternoon at Hurricane Field.

GSW falls to 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the Peach Belt Conference, while UNCP improves to 3-6-2 and 1-3-1 in the PBC.

Ross Sellers gave the Hurricanes a 1-0 advantage at the 4:19 mark when he found a loose ball off Kyle Hutton's corner kick and clipped the crossbar to put his shot over UNCP goalkeeper Ryan Hanson for the score.

UNCP's Ricardo Arias tied the match when he found an open goal seven yards out off a rebound in the 39th minute.

The game-winning goal came in the second half for the Braves when Brett Luccia took an Andrew Brown pass, that split the GSW defense down the middle of the field, and scored from 12 yards out.

UNCP led Southwestern 18-7 in shots and 11-2 in corner kicks.

Goalkeeper David Porley tallied nine saves for GSW. Hanson stopped two for UNC Pembroke.
