MORROW - The Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team took a 1-0
second half lead on Wednesday afternoon at Laker Field, but was
unable to hold on as eighth-ranked Clayton State rallied for a 2-1
victory.
GSW broke a 0-0 tie in the 51st minute as freshman Clinton
Hawkins scored from the top of the penalty box for his first goal
of the season. Sean
Howe picked up the assist.
Clayton State's Ryan Pugh took over from there and recorded
both Laker scores with goals in the 59th and 71st minutes. He now
sits atop the Peach Belt Conference with 11 goals this
season.
Southwestern falls to 2-10 overall and 1-5 in PBC play, while
Clayton State improves to 12-2 and 6-1.
It was the sixth time this season the Hurricanes have lost by a
single goal.
The Hurricanes host USC Aiken at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
