No. 8 Clayton State must rally for come-from-behind win over GSW

MORROW - The Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team took a 1-0 second half lead on Wednesday afternoon at Laker Field, but was unable to hold on as eighth-ranked Clayton State rallied for a 2-1 victory.

GSW broke a 0-0 tie in the 51st minute as freshman Clinton Hawkins scored from the top of the penalty box for his first goal of the season. Sean Howe picked up the assist.

Clayton State's Ryan Pugh took over from there and recorded both Laker scores with goals in the 59th and 71st minutes. He now sits atop the Peach Belt Conference with 11 goals this season.

Southwestern falls to 2-10 overall and 1-5 in PBC play, while Clayton State improves to 12-2 and 6-1.

It was the sixth time this season the Hurricanes have lost by a single goal.

The Hurricanes host USC Aiken at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
