Trae Bryant enters his second season as an assistant coach on Georgia Southwestern’s men’s basketball staff. Prior to GSW, he served as the head women’s basketball coach at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, N.C.

Coach Bryant joined the Hurricanes in July of 2024. Since arriving on campus, his primary role has been player development of the team’s guards. In his short time in Americus, he has helped produce significant improvements in scoring efficiency, shooting percentages, and basketball IQ. Coach Bryant also holds key roles in coaching the team’s offense alongside Coach O’Connor, as well as game preparation and recruiting.

Before joining GSW, Bryant had a highly successful tenure at Cape Fear Community College. During his three seasons at the helm, he led the program to its greatest start in their history (13-0), led the program to a NJCAA Region 10 Championship, an NJCAA Tournament appearance, and earned NJCAA Region 10 and South Atlantic district Coach of the Year in 2022. Under his leadership, the program produced multiple All-Region selections and placed majority of its student-athletes at four-year institutions.

Bryant graduated from Oklahoma City University with his B.A. in Mass Communications in May of 2020. During his time in Oklahoma, he earned all-conference honors and help lead his team to a SAC Tournament Championship which led to a Sweet Sixteen run in the NAIA National Tournament. Prior to OCU, Bryant spent time at UNC Asheville, Cape Fear CC, and UMaine. Bryant started his collegiate basketball career at UNC Asheville. During the 2015-16 season, UNCA were Big South Tournament champions and the 15 seed in the NCAA Tournament, losing to the eventually champion Villanova Wildcats. Bryant spent the 2016-17 season at Cape Fear Community College. He earned first team all-region honors while helping led the Sea Devils to a 26-6 record. Bryant then signed with the University of Maine for the 2017-18 season, where his season was cut short due to injury.

Bryant is a Wilmington, N.C. native. He and his wife Darya now reside in Middle Georgia.
