AMERICUS, Ga. – Georgia Southwestern State University women's soccer controlled much of the action and generated 14 second-half shots, but the Lady Hurricanes were unable to find the breakthrough in a scoreless draw with Middle Georgia State University on Senior Night Saturday at Hurricane Field.
GSW (1-2-4, 0-0-2 PBC) finished with an 18-5 advantage in shots and held the Knights (2-6-1, 0-2-1 PBC) without a corner kick while earning six of its own.
The draw was the second consecutive tie between the two programs and GSW's fourth of the season, matching the program record for most draws in a single season.
Prior to opening kickoff, GSW recognized seven student-athletes as part of its Senior Night celebration:

Anna Wheatley,
Ellie Carrington,
Kira Wilson,
Toni Clark and
Alana Beddow.
The Lady Hurricanes nearly struck in the opening minute when Wheatley sent an attempt just over the goal 27 seconds into the match.
Middle Georgia generated its best stretch of the opening half midway through the period. Chloe Baladi put an attempt on target in the 21st minute before Beddow stopped another Baladi shot in the 34th.
GSW answered with pressure of its own late in the half. Wheatley forced a save from Middle Georgia goalkeeper Hollie Keefe in the 35th minute as the Lady Hurricanes earned three corner kicks over a span of just more than two minutes.
The match remained scoreless at the break with GSW holding a 4-3 advantage in shots.
The Lady Hurricanes took control offensively in the second half.
GSW attempted five of the first six shots following intermission before
Jordin Gundin put an effort on frame in the 69th minute that Keefe turned away.
The pressure continued as GSW earned three corner kicks over a 10-minute stretch.
Sydney Weslowski forced another save in the 78th minute before the Lady Hurricanes made a final push over the closing six minutes.
Charlotte Reynolds sent an attempt high in the 86th minute before
Taelyn Townsend put a shot on goal with 2:43 remaining. Gundin followed with GSW's final opportunity at the 89:22 mark, but Keefe made her fifth save of the evening to preserve the scoreless draw.
GSW outshot Middle Georgia 14-2 over the final 45 minutes and put four second-half attempts on frame. The Lady Hurricanes finished with five shots on goal compared with two for the Knights.
Gundin and
Zoie St. John led GSW with four shots apiece, while Wheatley attempted three. Gundin put two of her attempts on frame.
Beddow and Garrett split time in goal on Senior Night and combined for GSW's second shutout of the season. Beddow played the opening 45 minutes before Garrett took over for the second half.
