AMERICUS, Ga. — Georgia Southwestern State University third baseman
Erin Garland has been named the Peach Belt Conference Softball Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday, following a strong and consistent stretch at the plate.
Garland hit .450 across six games, recording at least one hit in every contest to pace the Lady Hurricanes offensively. She delivered in key moments, finishing 4-for-6 with runners on base, with all three of her RBIs coming with two outs, highlighting her ability to produce in clutch situations.
For the week, Garland went 9-for-20 with three runs scored, two doubles, and three RBIs, posting a .550 slugging percentage. She also added 18 defensive chances at third base, finishing with nine putouts and nine assists.
In conference play, Garland continued to shine, tallying multiple hits in three of four PBC games during the week. Her consistent production has quickly made her a key contributor in her first collegiate season.
The Calhoun, Ga., native ranks fourth in the Peach Belt Conference in hits in league games and eighth in batting average.
