GSW Receives Votes in First NABC Regular-Season Coaches Poll

AMERICUS, Ga. – The Georgia Southwestern State University men's basketball team earned national attention on Tuesday, receiving votes in the first regular-season National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Coaches Poll of the 2025-26 season.

GSW collected three votes in the poll, placing the Hurricanes among the programs just outside the nation's top 25. It marks the first time in more than a decade that the Hurricanes have appeared in the NABC poll conversation — the last time GSW cracked the national rankings came on January 7, 2014, when the program reached No. 18.

The weekly rankings are determined by a 16-member panel of head coaches, with two coaches representing each of the NCAA Division II's eight regions.

Nova Southeastern claimed the No. 1 spot with all 16 first-place votes, followed by Washburn, Daemen, Point Loma, and Lubbock Christian closing out the top five. The Hurricanes were one of three Peach Belt Conference programs recognized this week, joining No. 11 North Georgia and fellow RV selection Columbus State.

GSW continues non-conference play this week as the Hurricanes aim to build on their early-season momentum heading into Peach Belt action in December.
