AMERICUS, Ga. – The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team honored its nine seniors before kickoff on Saturday evening at Hurricane Field, but visiting USC Aiken spoiled the celebration with a 2-0 victory in Peach Belt Conference play.

The Lady Canes recognized Bella Morey, Siaomee Bagnost, Lucia Bustamante, Karsen Winget, Jocelyn Ramos, Jackie Stokes, Ella Moody, Delaney Thomas, and Maci Dunlap for their contributions to the program prior to the match.

GSW controlled much of the first half, outshooting the Pacers 10-3, but the Lady Canes were unable to capitalize on their early pressure. USC Aiken broke through in the 51st minute when Lexi Blasberg scored from close range off a feed from Shy Iles, then doubled its lead seven minutes later on a strike by Greta Ohlwein.

Despite the result, the Lady Canes continued to press forward and finished with a 17-8 advantage in total shots and a 5-4 edge in shots on goal. Alana Beddow recorded two saves in net for GSW, while Savannah Yerger made five stops to preserve the shutout for the Pacers.

The Lady Canes fall to 4-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the Peach Belt Conference, while USC Aiken improves to 5-2-1 and 2-1-0 in league play.

Georgia Southwestern's senior class has combined for nearly 13,000 minutes of playing time in their careers, leaving a lasting impact on the program both on and off the field.
