Lady Hurricanes Rally to Win in OT, Capture Consecutive PBC Titles

MORROW, Ga. -- The 10th-ranked Georgia Southwestern State University women's basketball team rallied from 10 points down with 3:45 remaining in the fourth quarter to force overtime and eventually defeat Clayton State University, 67-60, on Wednesday evening in The Loch. With the win, Georgia Southwestern secured at least a share of the Peach Belt Conference regular season championship, making it back-to-back seasons the Lady Hurricanes have finished atop the league standings.

Ndidiamaka Ndukwe scored 14 of her team high 16 points for GSW in the second half. The Lady Hurricanes trailed by nine points, 35-26, at the halftime break, but never let the deficit extend past 13, which came with 7:56 left in the third quarter. GSW clamped down on defense and held the Lakers to 30.1 percent shooing for the game. The Lady Hurricanes were efficient at the free throw line as well, connecting on 16 of 20 (80 percent).

As has been the case all season, the Lady Hurricanes had a balanced scoring attack in victory. Kayla Langley finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Langley has 11 double-doubles during her GSW career, which puts her in one behind the program's all-time leader during the NCAA era, Lex Chatman. Langley was a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor. Leah Johnson added nine points and 10 rebounds in 22 minutes of action. Destiny Garrett dished out seven assists and grabbed five rebounds.

GSW (22-3, 15-2 PBC) closes out the regular season Saturday afternoon at Flagler College with the opportunity to secure sole possession of first place with a victory.
