Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

STATESBORO, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern women's basketball player Jamesha Samuel tied her career-high of 26 points as GSW fell on the road in an exhibition match 90-69 to Georgia Southern. 

How It Happened: A layup by Lex Chatman was the first points on the board for the Lady Hurricanes, who then took a 2-0 lead. The Eagles then took the lead but a three-pointer by Samuel tied the game 6-6 midway through the first. The Eagles responded with a three of thier on as they controlled the remaining quarter, kepping a 16-10 lead going into the second. 

GSU opened the second with a 7-0 run before Samul was able to drain her second three of the game as GSW trailed by 10 points. The lead only extended as the Eagles scored 27 points in both the second and third quarter, as GSW scored 26 points in the third quarter. 

The Lady Hurricanes led the turnover battle, forcing 14 steals with 27 turnovers but only had 14 points off turnovers compared to the Eagles 34. The Eagles went 28-for-66 (42.4%) from the field while GSW ent 22-of-64 (34.4%). GSU also led from the free throw line, shooting 87.1 percent while GSW ony shot 59.3 percent from the line.

Who Stood Out: Samuel finished with 26 points and one steal while Daelyn Criag and Chatman finished with 11 points, Chatman also had a team-high seven rebounds and three steals. 

A'Tyanna Gaulden led the Eagles with 12 points while Shondell Vickers finished with 11 points nd seven rebounds. Jaiden Hamilton and Tatum Barber also finished with 11 points. 

Up Next: The Lady Hurricanes will open Peach Belt Conference play on Jan. 6 against Lander inside the Storm Dome.
