Pirates Pick Apart Lady 'Canes

SAVANNAH - Armstrong Atlantic State University scored two goals in the first half and added two more in the second to defeat the Georgia Southwestern women, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference action at the Armstrong Soccer Field.   

Taylor Valley led the Pirates (9-3-3, 6-2-1 PBC) with a goal and an assist.

Armstrong finished with a 20-2 shots on goal advantage and 17-0 margin in corner kicks.

GSW keeper Vanne Lucke saved 15 shots. Maggie Carson saved two for Armstrong in the opening 45 minutes before making way for Morgan Luckie, who did not have to make a stop throughout the second half.

The Lady Hurricanes have been shutout in 12 consecutive matches.

Southwestern (0-15-1, 0-9-1 PBC) hosts Georgia College on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. to wrap up the conference portion of its schedule.
