The Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team was unable to hold on to a six-point lead in the final minute of overtime as Truett-McConnell College defeated the Hurricanes 70-67 on Saturday afternoon at the Storm Dome.

An alley-oop dunk by Chris Rawls with 2:19 to play in regulation gave the Hurricanes a five-point lead, but GSW turned the ball over on their ensuing two possessions and TMC made the most of the opportunity, finishing tied with the 'Canes at 58-58 after 40 minutes of play.

Turnovers plagued Southwestern at the end of the overtime period, as well. GSW gave the ball away twice in the final 33 seconds, after building the six-point advantage, to set the stage for for TMC's victory.

The Hurricanes shot only 38 percent from the floor (19-of-50) for the game, but held a sizeable rebound advantage (40-27) and more than doubled TMC's steals (9-4).  

Chris Rawls hit 8-of-12 shots and 8-of-12 free throws to lead all scorers with 24 points. Rawls added 14 rebounds to record his second double-double of the season. Evan Mobley, Ric Roderick and Marcus Scott chipped in 10 points apiece.

Truett-McConnell (4-11) shot 48 percent from the field (24-of-50), including 6-of-14 from beyond the arc. Tulio Yamasita led the Bears with 28 points. Quint Moss added 13.

GSW entered the game 20-1 when holding the lead with one minute remaining under head coach Mike Leeder (four seasons).

Southwestern (1-5) has the next week off for finals and returns to the Storm Dome on December 15 for a matchup with Carver Bible. Tip-off is at 1:00 p.m.
