Women's soccer drops finale

The North Georgia College & State University women's soccer team defeated GSW 8-0 Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Hurricane Field.

Lauren Schenk and Katie Turner scored two goals apiece and each added an assist to lead the visiting Lady Saints.  NGCSU scored 2:43 into the match and led 5-0 at the half.

North Georgia (8-6-2, 5-3 PBC) held a 40-6 shot advantage and led 6-0 in corner kicks.

Lady Hurricanes senior goalkeeper Lindsey Richardson stopped 12 shots in her final game at GSW.  Jessica English saved one and Kirsten Ross turned away two for North Georgia.

The 102 in attendance was the largest crowd at a women's game in school history.

GSW (5-14-1, 0-7-1 PBC) finished 2008 with the most wins (5), goals (23) and assists (14) in a season in the five-year history of the program.
