On a chilly night, Georgia Southwestern's men's team warmed
things up in their season opener. They convincingly defeated the
visiting Carver Bible College team, with a score of 106-84.
Collectively, the men shot just over 50% from the field, and 73%
from the line. In the 2nd half, the team missed just one free
throw.
The night also saw the emergence of a new class of leaders on
the hardwood. This included the team leaders in points for the
night, which included Travis Owsley with 18 points and Anthony
Sargent with 27. These two followed the lead of Aaron Wyatt, who
played 38 minutes, contributing an impressive double-double that
consisted of 44 points and 11 rebounds. His efforts included
shooting perfect from beyond the 3-pt. line. The Canes started the
season off on a good note, leaving the home crowd of 645 with a
good taste in their mouths.
