Fernander joins Georgia Southwestern State University after serving as an Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Florida International University (FIU), where he played a pivotal role in one of Division I’s top program turnarounds. During his tenure, FIU captured both the Conference USA Regular Season and Tournament Championships—its first conference titles in over twenty years—and achieved the highest RPI ranking in program history, climbing from the bottom 10% to the top 27% nationally.
Specializing in individual player development and position-specific growth, Fernander focused on elevating technical standards, decision-making, and overall performance consistency.
Before FIU, he led the Junior Varsity program at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in Miami, implementing a development-first model that produced a steady pipeline to the school’s state-championship varsity team. He also coached at IMG Academy, working with elite youth and collegiate prospects in one of the nation’s premier training environments.
A former member of the Bahamas Men’s National Team, Fernander combines international playing experience with a strong foundation in sport science. He holds a degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science and is an NCSF-Certified Personal Trainer, integrating performance science and coaching to maximize player potential.
