Hurricanes Excel Academically with 3.30 Department GPA in Fall 2025

AMERICUS, Ga. — Excellence in the classroom continued to define Georgia Southwestern State University Athletics during the fall 2025 semester, as Hurricane student-athletes delivered another strong academic performance across the department.

A total of 26 GSW student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA for the fall semester, highlighting the department's commitment to academic achievement. Overall, the athletics department posted a 3.30 GPA for the semester, reinforcing a culture where success extends well beyond competition.

In all, 123 Hurricanes recorded a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher, while 128 student-athletes currently maintain a cumulative GPA above 3.0, underscoring sustained academic excellence across multiple programs.

Several teams stood out with exceptional performances. Women's cross country led all programs with an impressive 3.89 team GPA for the semester. Both the men's golf and softball teams also posted strong results, each finishing the fall semester above a 3.50 GPA.

Depth of achievement across the department was evident, as eight of GSW's 10 sports recorded a team GPA of 3.15 or higher for the semester.

"These results reflect the hard work, discipline, and balance our student-athletes demonstrate every day," said GSW Senior Associate Director of Athletics Eric Crawford. "We're proud of their commitment to excellence in the classroom and grateful to our coaches and academic support staff for fostering an environment where academics remain a top priority."

Georgia Southwestern student-athletes continue to represent the Hurricanes with distinction, proving that success in competition and the classroom go hand in hand.
