HAMPTON, Ga. – The Georgia Southwestern men's cross country team made program history Saturday morning at the Clark Atlanta University Panther Invitational, recording its best team finish ever and placing third overall in the 8K race. It marks the first time the Hurricanes have cracked the top three in team results.
Freshman Graham Harrod led the way for GSW with a standout time of 29:13.3, finishing eighth overall. His performance now ranks as the sixth-fastest 8K time in program history. Fellow freshman Joseph Esco followed in 30:11.0 to place 10th — the seventh-fastest 8K mark in program history.
Junior Trey Reid crossed next in 33:29.2 for 18th, while freshman Michael Korfhage ran a personal best 33:42.1 for 20th place. Junior Christian Aguilar capped the scoring lineup with a career-best 48:26.5, good for 34th.
As a team, Georgia Southwestern posted a total time of 2:48:43 with an average of 33:44, finishing behind only Morehouse and Columbus State in a six-team field.
The Hurricanes will look to build on their historic showing as they prepare for the Peach Belt Conference Championship on Oct. 25.
