DAVIE, Fla. — The eighth-ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted a 2-over-par 854, tied for fifth place out of 20 teams and made the cut for the NCAA Division II Championships after a strong showing at the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Super Regional that concluded Saturday afternoon at the par 71 6,725-yard Grande Oaks Golf Club. The Hurricanes had three golfers finish in the Top 30 of the 107-player field.
Chase McLain led the Hurricanes with a 71 in the final round. McLain birdied two holes on the front nine and birdied a hole on the back nine. McLain tied for 11th in the 107-player field with a 2-under 211 overall.
Payne Sells fired a 2-over par 71 in round 3 Sells birdied three out of the final four holes on the front nine he finished the tournament tied for 16th with a 1-under 212 overall.
Nicolas Escobar shot a 2-under par in round 3 he birdied three holes on the front nine and birdied two holes on the back nine. Escobar finished the tournament tied for 27th shooting a 1-over 214 overall.
Erik Fogel fired a 4-over in round three he birdied two holes on the back nine he ended the tournament tied for 63rd fired a 7-over 220 overall.
Jack Tharrington fired a 1-over in round three birdied two holes on the back nine he finished the weekend tied 83rd 12-over 225 overall.
