Kiawah Island, S.C. -- Due to heavy rainfall, the final round of the Newberry Invitational was canceled. All 15 teams were not able to complete the third and final round causing the cancelation. The tournament was being held at the Ocean Course at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Kiawah Island, S.C.
Vincent Norrman carded a six-under 138 with two rounds of 69 as he picked up his fourth individual win this season, topping the scorecard at the Newberry Invitational. Saksit Jairak shot a day low of 65 during Round 2 followed by a Round 1 score of 75 to sit tied in second place with a four-under 140. Cole Madison carded rounds of 72 and 75 for a 147 (+3) to sit tied in 15th place. Simon Estrada sits tied for 40th with rounds of 73 and 79 followed by Chase McLain, who sits tied for 62nd with rounds of 75 and 84.
No. 6 Lynn took home the team trophy as they carded rounds of 284 and 292 to stay par 576, leading the pack. No. 1 GSW finished just one stroke shy in second place with opening rounds of 289 and 288 for a 577 (+1) score. Sliding down was No. 13 Columbus State, who shot a 15-over 591 with rounds of 292 and 299. Clayton State and No. 12 Arkansas Tech both sit tied for fourth place, shooting a 17-over 593.
GSW will be back swinging soon as they will host the Hurricane Invitational, Feb. 24-25 at the Doublegate Country Club in Albany, Ga.
