Lady 'Canes finish second at Cougar Invitational

COLUMBUS - The Lady Hurricanes cross country team finished second on Saturday at the Cougar Invitational hosted by Columbus State.

Juawana Stinger led the way for GSW, finishing the 5,000-meter race at the Smiths Station Sports Complex tenth with a time of 23:12.51.

Krystal Thomas, Katy York and Britney Lewis took the 12th-14th slots.  Cherrelle Pullen and Laura Southwell finished 20th and 21st, respectively.

Columbus University finished with 15 points to take the team title. GSW (47) topped Southern Union (71) for runner-up.

Naomi Tanui from CSU crossed the finish line first with a time of 18:33.38, followed by teammates Brittney Skiles (18:53.97) and Kelli Arnold (19:50.13). Columbus State had six runners finish in the top eight.

GSW travels to Deland, Fla. on October 16 to compete in the Hatter Invitational.
