AMERICUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern State University head women's soccer coach Enrique Rodriguez has released the program's 2018 schedule, which features nine matches at home and eight away from the confines of Hurricane Field. Following a trio of road matches to kick off the season, GSW will play a historic home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 12, as the 7:30 p.m. start marks the first home match under the lights in program history. GSW will play eight of its nine home contests at 5 p.m. or later this fall.
The Blue & Gold have three first-ever meetings on the schedule with matches against Warner University (Sept. 15), Shaw University (Oct. 3) and Albany State (Oct. 24). The Lady Hurricanes host all three schools.
Peach Belt Conference play begins Sept. 19, with a trip to Morrow, Ga., for a match against Clayton State.
GSW will enjoy a pair of three-match homestands this season. The first block opens with North Georgia on Sept. 26, and follows with contests against Francis Marion (Sept. 29) and Shaw.
After trips to Young Harris College (Oct. 6) and Flagler College (Oct. 10), the Lady Hurricanes squeeze in a Saturday match against UNC Pembroke on Oct. 13, before wrapping up the road portion of its schedule with a midweek stop at Columbus State on the 17th. The Cougars finished 2017 ranked No. 12 in the country in NCAA Division II.
Coach Rodriguez & Co. close out the 2018 campaign with their second three-match homestand of the fall. USC Aiken visits on Oct. 20, Senior Day follows on Wednesday of that same week against Albany State and the finale comes the 27th against Lander University.
