AMERICUS - The top Hurricane Highlight of the 2012 women's soccer season came early on in the 2012 campaign as GSW made history with an opening day victory at West Georgia.

Junior Julia Wells drilled what would prove to be the game-winning goal less than five minutes later off an assist from Hawkes.
The second half turned into a defensive stalemate as the two sides were held scoreless. GSW kept the Wolves out of prime scoring position as Lady 'Canes senior goalkeeper Amber Bahri made her last save of the match with over 23 minutes left to play. UWG had one final look in the 79th minute when a shot from Rebecca Uranga hit the post.
UWG finished with a slim 5-4 advantage in shots on goal while holding a 7-2 lead in corner kicks.
