AMERICUS - Held without a shot on goal in the second half, the Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team was unable to answer a pair of late University of West Alabama goals and dropped a 2-0 decision to the Tigers on Friday afternoon at Hurricane Field.
Neither team was able to get much going offensively throughout the game as the two sides combined for a total of 16 shots, with seven being on goal.
UWA (2-1) made the most of their two second half looks, however, converting both shots into scores.
Hakima Amerg broke up a scoreless match in the 54th minute when she gathered a pass on the left corner of box from Vicky Petrova, that deflected off teammate Lydia Sutcliffe, and shot it over GSW goalkeeper Amber Bahri for her first goal of the season.
Petrova added her second assist of the match eight minutes later as she set up Sam Cable off a deflected shot.
Bahri finished with two saves for GSW. Jess Martin stopped three for UWA.
The Lady Hurricanes (1-2) look to get back to the .500 mark on Monday when they host Palm Beach Atlantic at noon.
