Georgia Southwestern State University head women's soccer coach Tony Economopoulos has released the program's 2009 schedule that features ten home matches and six road contests.
GSW starts the 2009 campaign with five consecutive home matches, kicking things off with the second annual GSW Hurricane Invitational. The Lady 'Canes face Florida College on August 28 and conclude the invite on Aug. 30 against Converse College.
North Alabama visits on September 1 and NAIA schools Brewton-Parker College and Columbia College are in Americus on Sept. 9 and Sept, 12, respectively.
The Lady Hurricanes first road game comes on Sept. 16 when they head down the road to Thomasville to take on Thomas University.
Southwestern opens Peach Belt Conference play with three of their first four contests at home, beginning on Sept. 24 against Georgia College. A road match at Armstrong Atlantic is followed by visits from reigning PBC champions Columbus State on Sept. 30 and Lander on October 3.
Three consecutive road matches - at UNC Pembroke on Oct. 10, at North Georgia four days later and finally at PBC newcomer Montevallo on the 17th - compose the middle of the conference schedule.
On Oct. 21, Southwestern returns to Hurricane Field to host Clayton State before travelling to USC Aiken on the 24th.
The Lady 'Canes close the regular season on Oct. 28 with a home match against another PBC newcomer, Flagler.
The Peach Belt Conference Tournament begins on Nov. 3 with the quarterfinals being played on the campus of the higher seed. The tournament moves to Blanchard Woods Park in Evans for semifinal and championship action on Nov. 6-8.
GSW finished 2008 with the most wins (5), goals (23) and assists (14) in a season in the five-year history of the program.
