Tomorrow (2/17) is "Pack the House in Pink" at the Storm Dome for the GSW basketball games against Georgia College as part of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Pink ZoneTM initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities.
The festivities for the night begin at 5:30 p.m. with the women's game against GCSU. At halftime, there will be a Pink Fashion Show. Any fan wearing pink can enter with a gift pack going to the top model - as voted by the crowd.
In addition, one lucky fan will walk away by evening's end with a handful of cash as the winner of our Pink Zone 50/50 drawing. Throughout the night, members of the GSW Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be selling tickets for the drawing. One ticket costs $1 while five tickets are $3. Half of the proceeds will go to the Kay Yow Foundation for cancer research.
The men's game against GCSU will follow at 7:30 p.m. The winner of the 50/50 drawing will be selected at halftime, along with a second running of the Pink Fashion Show.
All fans wearing pink will be admitted for free.
The WBCA began the WBCA Pink ZoneTM, formerly known as "Think Pink", in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities. In 2007, more than 120 schools unified for this effort and helped make the inaugural year a success. In 2008, over 1,200 teams and organizations participated, reaching over 830,000 fans and raising over $930,000 for breast cancer awareness and research.
