The GSW women's basketball team scored the first 16 points of the game and cruised to a 95-48 win over Toccoa Falls at the Storm Dome on Tuesday night.
GSW junior guard Brandi Burris scored 17 points to lead four Hurricanes in double figures. Burris connected on 7-of-8 shots from the floor and 3-of-3 from the foul line in only 19 minutes of action. Junior Krystal Thomas added 12 points, while junior Brittany Reynolds and freshman Terra Branch tallied 10 points apiece. Junior Whitley Wiltz pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
The Lady Hurricanes shot 62.5% in the first half and finished 51.2% for the game. GSW scored 50 points in the paint compared to 14 points by Toccoa Falls. Southwestern's bench outscored the reserves from Toccoa Falls 50-0.
Lady Eagles guard Stephanie Buice led all scorers with 27 points.
GSW (2-1) travels to St. Petersburg, Fla. for games at Eckerd on Friday and against Puerto Rico-Bayamon on Saturday.
