AMERICUS-- Georgia Southwestern State University head softball coach Eddie Ward has released the program's 2013 schedule.
GSW is coming off a 2012 campaign where they tied for the most wins, 22, in the program's NCAA era.
The season kicks off as the Lady 'Canes open the 2013 campaign Feb. 2-3 in Milledgeville at the Bobcat Bash Invitational. A trip to defending NCAA Division II champion Valdosta State (Feb. 12) and first-ever NCAA meetings with Eckerd College (Feb. 24) and King College (Mar. 19) highlight the non-conference portion of the schedule.
The Blue & Gold open the PBC season with home stands against UNC Pembroke (Mar. 2) and Georgia College (Mar. 9) before back to back trips to Francis Marion (Mar. 9) and West Georgia (Mar. 12). GSW returns home to face the reigning PBC champions Armstrong Atlantic on Mar. 14.
Down the stretch, the Lady 'Canes turn into road warriors as they face two daunting road trips.
First is an eight-game road stretch that includes visits to Anderson University S.C. (Mar. 21), USC Aiken (Mar. 22), Lander University (Mar. 24) and Columbus State (Mar. 27).
Georgia Southwestern opens the month of April with a six-game road trip from April 3-7. The span includes stops at Brewton-Parker College (Apr. 3), conference newcomer Young Harris College (Apr. 6), and North Georgia (Apr. 7).
The season concludes as the Hurricanes host Albany State (Apr. 9).
