AMERICUS - The Sumter Humane Society has partnered with Georgia Southwestern Athletics to present "Bark at the Park" on Sunday, March 25. The event will run from 1:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the GSW softball and baseball games. The humane society will be set up at the softball field with dogs of all ages looking for a home. Pups available for adoption will be walked back and forth between the two fields.
The Lady Hurricanes host Lander University in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader with first pitch scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The GSW baseball team takes on North Georgia in PBC action at 1 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to bring their dog(s) to all of the games that afternoon. Treats will be provided for the pups and a pair of contests will be run during the first game of softball. Owners can win prizes in the Pooch Smooch and the Best Trick contests. All dogs and owners can take part in the Pet Parade that will take place after the first game of the softball doubleheader at Lady 'Canes Field.
In addition, the 25th is another "Sundaes on Sunday" event presented by the Americus-Sumter Chamber of Commerce at both sites. Free ice cream sundaes will be served to the first 150 fans at both ballgames. The "Sundaes on Sunday" promotion takes place at every GSW soccer, basketball, baseball and softball home game that falls on a Sunday.
As if those activities were not enough of a reason to come out to the park, kids also have the opportunity to run the bases at the conclusion of play at both sites.
