Men's soccer releases 2010 schedule

Georgia Southwestern State University head men’s soccer coach Warren Russ has released the program’s 2010 schedule that features seven matches at home, seven on the road and one contest at a neutral site.

The Hurricanes play two matches at home in September before a full October slate finds them at home on five occasions.

GSW opens the season with four consecutive matches against Sunshine State Conference (SSC) schools, beginning with Eckerd College at Hurricane Field on Friday, September 3.

Southwestern meets the University of Tampa two days later at the Walden Soccer Complex in Columbus. UT finished 2009 ranked No. 5 in the country.

Road matches against Saint Leo and Florida Tech await GSW on Sept. 10 and 12, respectively, as the Hurricanes round out their “SSC Swing.”

The Hurricanes complete the three-game road trip on Sept. 15 at Brewton-Parker College.

After 19 days away from Hurricane Field, Southwestern returns to Americus for a match against Thomas University on the 22nd.

The Hurricanes last match in September comes on the 25th with a trip to Florence, S.C. to open the Peach Belt Conference portion of the schedule against Francis Marion.

October begins with a road contest at Lander on the 2nd.

Three consecutive home matches - UNC Pembroke on Oct. 9, North Georgia three days later and finally Montevallo on the 16th – compose the middle of the conference schedule.

On Oct. 20, Southwestern travels to Clayton State before returning to Hurricane Field to host USC Aiken on the 23rd.

The 'Canes final Peach Belt match is on Oct. 27 at Flagler.

Alabama-Huntsville arrives in Americus on Oct. 30 for the regular season finale.

The Peach Belt Conference Tournament begins on Tuesday, November 2 with the quarterfinals being played on the campus of the higher seed. The tournament moves to Blanchard Woods Park in Evans for semifinal and championship action on Nov. 5-7.
