Olsson Earns Two PBC Awards

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern's Anders Olsson was honored by the Peach Belt Conference at the PBC Golf banquet as one of the members of the PBC All-Conference second team. Olsson has also been placed on the PBC All-Academic team.

Olsson carries a 3.756 grade point average and is pursuing a degree in Computer Science.

The Peach Belt Conference released the men's golf All-Academic team from the conference office. The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution.

Olsson leads the Hurricanes with a 74.33 scoring average over 18 rounds this spring, including the PBC Championships. The Smyrna, Ga. native has finished in the Top 15 three times during the Spring Season. Olsson's top finish was a tie for 8th in the Doublegate Collegiate tournament in Albany, Ga on March 3-4th. He fired a low round of 68 at Buccaneer Invitational in Normandy Shores, Miami Beach, Fla. on Mar. 31. Olsson was the Hurricanes low scorer in five of the squad's ten tournaments in 2013-14.

Olsson was named the PBC Player of the Week during the 14th week on April 3, 2014. Olsson carded two-above par to finish in a tie for 14th place at Barry's Buccaneer Invitational in Miami Shores. The sophomore shot rounds of 73, 68 and 74 to help the Hurricanes in a 13th-place finish in the 14-team field which featured two of the top-five ranked teams in the nation including #1 Barry and #4 Chico State.
