Gibson in the hunt, moving up the leaderboard at regionals

Georgia Southwestern's Craig Gibson shot a 2-under 69 on Tuesday in the second round of the NCAA Division II Men's Golf South/Southeast Regional at the Wilson Country Club in Wilson, N.C. Gibson is currently tied for 16th place in the 108-golfer field, up 21 slots from Monday's opening round.

After recording bogeys on two of his first three holes in the morning, Gibson settled in and rattled off three-consecutive pars, before notching back-to-back birdies on holes 16 and 17 (Gibson started on the back nine).

He carried the momentum to the turn, where he birdied holes 1 and 2. From there it was all pars, including a difficult up and down on the final hole.

At the time of this release, Gibson had the second-lowest score amongst Peach Belt Conference golfers, one stroke behind Justin Walor of UNC Pembroke and was five strokes behind tournament leaders Daniel Claytor of Barton and Bobby Bode of Nova Southeastern.

Tee times for Wednesday's final round will be release later today.
