Georgia Southwestern senior forward Phillip Brown has been named to the 2011-12 Division II Bulletin Super 16 All-American Preseason Team. Georgia Southwestern head men's basketball coach Mike Leeder has released the program's 2011-12 schedule that features 13 games at home, nine on the road and four contests at neutral sites. GSW is coming off of a 20-9 campaign where the Hurricanes won the Peach Belt Conference West Division regular season title and earned the program's first NCAA Tournament birth. Led by 29 second-half points from Trayce Macon, the Georgia Southwestern men’s basketball team punched its ticket to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Final Four with an 87-68 victory over Clayton State in the Storm Dome on Tuesday evening. Macon connected on 8 of 11 shots, including 5 of 6 from beyond the arc, over the final 20 minutes to help GSW open a 23-point lead en route to the win.

Tuesday evening (Mar. 1) the Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team will host the first-ever NCAA postseason game in school history. The Hurricanes take on the Clayton State Lakers (19-9, 10-7 PBC). GSW (19-7, 12-5 PBC) is the #1 seed in the West Division. The two teams split the regular season series 1-1 with each team winning on the opponent's home floor. The winner will advance to the tournament's semifinal on Saturday March 5 to face the UNC Pembroke (E3)/USC Aiken (E2) winner in USC Aiken's Convocation Center in Aiken, S.C.

Georgia Southwestern forward Phillip Brown was named the Peach Belt Conference men's basketball Player of the Week on Monday. It's the third time Brown has received the honor this sesason. He was exceptional in back-to-back triple-overtime games, averging 19.5 points and 19 rebounds per game. At North Georgia, he grabbed 22 rebounds, the most in a single game in the PBC this season and tied for fifth-most all-time.

Trayce Macon and Phillip Brown each posted double-doubles as Georgia Southwestern knocked off Flagler 80-76 on Saturday in St. Augustine, Fla. Macon had 18 points and 12 rebounds, and Brown had 15 and 12 as the 16th-ranked Hurricanes rebounded from Thursday’s loss at Armstrong Atlantic. Behind a game-high 23 points from Evan Mobley, the Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team won their third-consecutive road game, an 80-65 victory at Georgia College on Wednesday evening. For the first time in school history, Georgia Southwestern has been listed amongst the nation's best. Peach Belt Conference, Penn Atlantic to begin free internet broadcasting
The Peach Belt Conference and its internet broadcasting partner Penn Atlantic have announced that beginning with games played on Monday, Feb. 2., all PBC games will be available for free. Prior to this, games had been available on a pay-per-view basis but continued expansion at Penn Atlantic will allow all games to be viewed for free with revenues generated from advertising.
