AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference has announced the 2013-14 men's basketball All-Conference teams following the conclusion of the regular season. Fifteen players were selected to the squad by the league's head coaches with the top five selections placed on the First Team, the next five on Second Team and final five on the Third Team.
Georgia Southwestern took three slots among the Peach Belt honors. Alan Arnett and Johathan Brooks were placed into the Second Team, and Daryl Davis was placed on the Third, as announced by the league office this afternoon.
The last time GSW men's basketball had three players named All-Conference was in 2011-12.
Arnett is GSW's leading scorer and fourth in the PBC with 466 points (16.6 ppg). The Kokomo, Ind. native has played 970 minutes on the hardwood, which is the third most playing time in the PBC.
Brooks leads the PBC in rebounds and is second in rebounds per game, grabbing 282 rebounds (10.1 rpg). 216 of these rebounds were snatched on the defensive end. Brooks is also ranked fourth in the PBC with 44 blocks so far. The Macon, Ga. native has been recognized nationally with the 23rd most double-doubles recorded, Brooks has 11 for the season.
Davis is a solid player down low for the Hurricanes. Davis averages 13.6 points per game, connecting on 143 of 243 field goal attempts. Davis is ranked second in the PBC with a 58.8 shooting percentage. The 6-foot-10 man in the middle is ranked eighth with 34 blocks in the PBC.
Montevallo's Troran Brown was named the PBC Player of the Year while Georgia Regents' Keshun Sherrill the Freshman of the Year. USC Aiken's Alvin Brown was selected the PBC Defensive Player of the Year with his head coach, Vince Alexander, the PBC Coach of the Year.
The Hurricanes enter this week's PBC Championship Tournament as the #2 seed out of the West Division and will take on Lander University (East #4) on Friday, March 7 at 5:00 p.m. on the campus of Columbus State.
