'Canes continue to hold No. 18 ranking

AMERICUS - For the second consecutive week, the Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team (14-4, 7-2 PBC) sits at No. 18 in the NABC/Division II basketball rankings.

The Hurricanes lost at No. 3 Augusta State on Thursday and rebounded for an 18-point victory at Lander on Saturday.

Southwestern received 50 points, five shy of No. 17 Grand Valley State (Mich.).

West Liberty (W. Va.) is ranked first and received 200 points in the poll.

GSW travels to Clayton State on Wednesday.


The Hurricanes continue to rank near the top of D-II in several categories, including scoring defense (8th out of 275 teams), field goal percentage (12th), scoring margin (13th).

Individually, Phillip Brown ranks 12th in D-II in field goal percentage (65.1) and seventh in rebounds per game (10.6).
