Hurricanes fall to The Citadel in exhibition

Charleston, S.C. - The Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team dropped its lone exhibition of the 2009-10 season to The Citadel, 58-37, on Sunday evening at McAlister Field House.

The combination of Marcus Scott (19 points) and Ric Roderick (11 points) provided the offensive threat for the Hurricanes. Scott converted 7-of-17 field goal attempts, hitting 3-for-6 from 3-point range. Dannie Hunt posted eight boards in the loss.

GSW was held to 12-of-49 shooting (24.5%), including 6-of-21 shooting (28.6%) from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, The Citadel hit on 20-of-47 from the field (42.6%) and 13-of-19 from the free-throw line.

Bryan Streeter led The Citadel offensively, netting 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Joe Wolfinger anchored the post, grabbing 11 rebounds (nine defensive), in 16 minutes of play.

Also reaching double figures for the Bulldogs was Cameron Wells. Wells, a preseason selection by both The Sporting News and the SoCon coaches, scored 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting in 22 minutes of action.

The Hurricanes open the regular season at home on Monday (11/16) against West Alabama at 7:30 p.m.
