GSWs Sargent Named Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week
Anthony Sargent, a junior guard from Indianapolis, was selected
as the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week in Men's
Basketball. Sargent lit up the scoreboards in three games last
week, averaging 22.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as the
Hurricanes went 1-2. He began with 19 points and four rebounds in a
loss to North Georgia, then turned it up with 23 points and nine
rebounds in a 59-58 loss to GCSU. He then hit seven of 13
three-pointers for 25 points with eight rebounds as GSW beat UNC
Pembroke. The junior connected on 41% of his field goals and 85% of
his free throws. With his efforts, he regained the PBC scoring lead
at 22.1 per game. He is also leads the league in made
three-pointers, is second in steals, and 10th in free throw
percent¬age.
Sargent is the first Hurricane to earn Player of the Week honors
this season. GSW (8-18, 5-14 PBC) will wrap up Peach Belt play
Saturday as they travel to Augusta State University.
