Camp and Lock on List of Transfers Added to Baseball Roster
Georgia Southwestern head baseball coach Bryan McLain has announced the addition of Drew Camp, Heath Lock, Bud Long and Matt Schrantz to the Hurricanes' roster for 2008-09.
Camp, a 6-1 190-pound senior catcher from Lawrenceville, Ga., is transferring from Valdosta State University where he played in 12 games last season for the Blazers. Camp hit .353 and posted a .588 slugging percentage.
Lock, a 5-11 175-pound sophomore infielder from Dalton, Ga., is transferring from the University of North Carolina-Asheville where he played in 13 games last season for the Division I Bulldogs. Lock batted .273 and drove in two runs. Prior to UNC-Asheville, Lock earned All-Area honors for four straight years at Southeast Whitfield High School and made the All-Chattanooga Times-Free Press and All-North Georgia teams as a junior and senior.
Bud Long, a junior outfielder from Kite, Ga., is transferring from Southern Polytechnic State University. In his first two seasons at Southern Poly, Long played in 80 games and batted .287 with 20 runs batted in. He was a perfect 12-for-12 on stolen base attempts. Long elected to sit out last season to preserve his remaining two years of eligibility.
Matt Schrantz, a left-handed pitcher from Lecanto, Fl., is transferring from the University of Tampa. Schrantz will be a junior this season for the Hurricanes.
GSW lost six seniors from last year's squad that finished 17-34 overall and 7-20 in the Peach Belt Conference.
