AMERICUS, Ga. -- Men's golfer Vincent Norrman and softball player Aimee Oglesby have been named the Georgia Southwestern State University Department of Athletics top performers for the month of February.
Norrman, a junior from Stockholm, Sweden, finished in 19th place out of 90 golfers at the Newberry College Invitational, shooting an 11-over-par 227 in the three rounds played Feb. 18-19. A week later, Norrman broke his own 54-hole GSW record by six strokes with a 13-under 203 at the 13-team Hurricane Invitational held Feb. 25-26 in Albany, Ga. and, for his efforts, was named Peach Belt Conference Golfer of the Week for the third time in 2018-19. Norrman won the Hurricane Invitational by seven shots. He current ranks second in the Peach Belt with a 71.6 scoring average.
Oglesby, a junior from Ocala, Fla., led the Lady Hurricanes with five home runs and 17 runs batted in over 14 games. She hit .303 overall and was 7-for-16 (.438) at the plate with RBI opportunities. Oglesby drove in 12 of her 17 runs when she came up to bat with two outs. Oglesby is currently tied for second in the Peach Belt in home runs, eighth in RBIs and eighth in slugging percentage.
